The film of this generation. The Citizen Kane of the 21st century. One of the best of the decade. Best film of the year. A lot of hype has been built around this film and it’s one of the more ridiculous instances of it. It’s not because it’s a bad film, or that it doesn’t warrent praise, it’s just that most of the praise given is a bit on the ludicrous side. The film of this generation? Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. The Citizen Kane of the 21st century? There Will be Blood. One of the best of the decade? Ask me again in 9 years and 3 months. Best film of the year? Winter’s Bone.

That’s a fantastic review, sam. I haven’t seen the film, but I’m getting a bit wearied of the hype. Really nice to read a review that gives the film a strong rating but doesn’t sound hyperbolic. I may have to link to your review on my Facebook wall.
A very accurate review, particularly in your praise for the film’s dialogue, which not only serves the drama and the development of the characters, but retains a large amount of delicious wit throughout.
Excellent review Jim. BTW, what did you think of the score?
I thought it was really good. A bit overbearing in a few scenes, but it did a good job at supporting the mood.
Wow really raving about it uh? I have yet to see this and this, no doubt, has convinced to do so in theater instead of waiting for the DVD…
Totally blown away by the fact, that a film about Facebook directed by David Fincher, can be a big-time Oscar contender. Loved it almost from start to finish, hope it gets awards come Oscar time. Nice post, check out my review when you can!
