I’m a Film and Digital Media major pursuing my Bachelors. I plan to then go into grad school while the whole print to internet shift gets further along. After that I aim to get a job that involves writing about movies in some capacity. Ideally, I’d get a job as a film critic but I’m open to anything that involves writing about movies.

Film criticism’s become a free medium pretty much (low paying at best), but you’re a pretty damn good writer so I hope you get some visibility on some of the bigger sites.
If it can pay for your obsession (screenings, free dvd’s, etc.) though, then it’s like you break even.
I guess you already know this but I just found out.
“Tree of Life” is delayed for 2011.
Not a big surprise, but still a bit off-putting.
Hi James, I just happened upon your blog and I’m terribly impressed. Your reviews are so thoughtful and you write (and seem to watch) a prodigious amount. I too have a dark-colored film blog (voicethrower.wordpress.com), started around the same time as yours, actually – which you should definitely check out if you get the chance. Anyway good stuff, please keep up the good work!
Hey Jim, have you seen this?

Awesome stuff. I love the fact he’s still so much of an enigma. Even though it would be cool to meet him, I don’t think I would really like that.
Hi James,
Just thought I’d leave a comment, I thoroughly enjoy your reviews and uncannily we seem to have focused on similar movies around similar times, it’s always good to hear a fellow cinefiles viewpoint.
Cheers
Steve
Thanks! I try to cover a broad array of films from a good range of decade, but lately I’ve been stuck in the ’20s and ’30s and loving every moment of it.
